1.  There are reasons why you need an acknowledgement for each return you file electronically with a state revenue department.

     a.  An acknowledgement lets you know that a return has been received by a revenue department.
     b.  It is the fastest way to determine if a return has been accepted or rejected by a revenue department.
     c.  A financial institution usually requires some proof that a return has been received and accepted before it issues a refund anticipation loan.
     d.  An acknowledgement provides you with information that you can provide to your customer.
     e.  Some revenue departments require that the ERO forward a copy of their state form 8453 within a specific number of days after the department has notified you, through an acknowledgement, that a return was received and accepted.

2.  Before you sign up for service:

   a.  Make sure that the software company from which you purchased your software will not pick up acknowledgements for you.

    b.  Please read through AKSYS Specification: AK-050195, Volume 2, Operating Instructions. Excerpts of the sections of that publication are listed under "Where is Everything" on the homepage.
