What’s New for Revenue Departments?

AKSYS is a service of STARPATHS INCORPORATED

December 13,  2005

AKSYS now is accepting acknowledgements for the new filing season.

AKSYS now provides transmitters with files of 120-byte acknowledgement records.

AKSYS can process acknowledgement records of any length and structure for all state forms that require an acknowledgement.

AKSYS is the oldest acknowledgement service of its kind in the world!  Since 1993, AKSYS has provided the best, the fastest, the most innovative, and the most secure acknowledgement services to revenue departments and their transmitters. We will strive to remain the best.

We thank the revenue departments that have used our services in the past,
and we hope that they will continue to do so.

If you have not used AKSYS in the past -- or recently -- and you would like to do so, signing up for service is as simple as a phone call or email.

Not happy with the service (or lack of it) that you are getting from your third party acknowledgement service provider? Call us. AKSYS can begin servicing your acknowledgement requirements at any time, even after the filing season has started, and we can begin to provide service to all of your transmitters within a few hours.

We do not require a contract or even a memorandum of understanding.  AKSYS provides the services described in our published technical specifications.

We do not charge revenue departments for acknowledgement services. Instead, we charge transmitters sixteen cents for each acknowledgement we receive for them.  AKSYS does not charge for reposting (rehanging) acknowledgements and AKSYS will repost acknowledgements (or provide a repost failure record) within a few minutes of the time that a transmitter requests a reposting.

AKSYS can provide expert technical assistance to revenue departments, and can provide software and assistance to make electronic filing easier and faster. No charge.

Do you get problem files that will not process in your system? Transmit them to us and we will repair the files or remove the parts that are causing the problems. Revenue departments that use AKSYS know that we can do many things to help your electronic filing effort. Ask them. We can help. No charge!

AKSYS is the best!  No other company or government agency can provide the quality of service and all of the features that AKSYS offers transmitters and revenue departments.

Availability

AKSYS is available essentially 100% of the time  -- and has been since it started. The exact availability is better than 99.94%.

You can get some pretty long outages.

Service

What has your experience been?

When you call AKSYS for information or assistance, someone answers the phone promptly and you get answers and solutions.

What has your experience been?

If you can get someone to answer the phone, you might get a solution, or you might not.

Timeliness

AKSYS processes and posts acknowledgements within minutes of the time they are received from a revenue department, twenty-four hours a day, three hundred and sixty-five days a year -- year after year after year. Transmitters who rely on acknowledgements to provide fast service to their customers can be sure that AKSYS can get acknowledgements to them faster than any other service.

Can other acknowledgement providers do that? Not even close.

Convenience
Revenue departments can transmit single files or multiple files of acknowledgements of any structure to AKSYS any number of times 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Transmitters can download acknowledgements from AKSYS at any time, day or night, every day of the year.
Does any other acknowledgement provider do that?
Economy
AKSYS does not charge revenue departments for services or software.

AKSYS charges transmitters only 16 cents for each acknowledgement processed for them. There are no other charges.

AKSYS does not charge transmitters for additional cells (mailboxes), nor does AKSYS assess signup fees.
Some acknowledgement service providers charge revenue departments, transmitters, or both, for services.
Consistency of service
Since 1993, AKSYS has provided the highest quality of service to its customers every day of every year.
When you call AKSYS for assistance or information, you get answers and solutions, not excuses.
Again, if you can get someone to answer, will you get a solution or an excuse?

Reconciliation Cycles

Every weekend, AKSYS runs reconciliation cycles to find "lost" acknowledgements -- acknowledgements not received during the week in normal acknowledgement files. Finding and posting lost acknowledgements before transmitters begin to look for them can save many calls to revenue departments.

Reposting of individual  acknowledgements

AKSYS can repost (rehang) one acknowledgement, or any number of acknowledgements, from a file of social security numbers, ETINs, EFINs, or Return Sequence Numbers (or a mixed file of up to all four) transmitted into the dial-up system or entered at the AKSYS website. The requested acknowledgements are provided within a few minutes, and AKSYS provides repost failure records for  acknowledgements that it does not have.

Again, not even close! Not available in the same speed and quality of service that AKSYS provides. No repost failure records for missing acknowledgements (repost failure records are a copyrighted feature of AKSYS).

Reposting all of the acknowledgements received for a transmitter or for an ERO (reposting by ETIN or EFIN)

Available. Since repostings are free, there is no charge.

 Multiple cells (mailboxes) for transmitters.

AKSYS can provide any number of additional cells to a transmitter at no extra charge.

Services for acknowledgements other than for individual tax returns (state 1065, 1120, etc.)

AKSYS can process acknowledgements of any length and structure, and for any type of state form.

Not available.

Assistance with files of returns that will not process through a revenue department's computer system.

Every year, AKSYS receives requests from revenue departments for assistance with files that "hang up" or will not process at all. Usually, AKSYS can fix such files.

Generally not available.

Free software services to help preprocess (or process completely) a revenue department's files of returns, or to help a revenue department self-test its system before it begins to test software developers.

AKSYS provides STELF.EXE to revenue departments without charge and can tailor it to meet a department's exact requirements. Starting this year, STELF provides enhanced self-test features (test prototype is out) to permit a department to debug its system before it begins to test software developers.

Customer Information Review
About three times each year, AKSYS provides each transmitter with a review of the information we have about his account: Name of person to contact; company; address; telephone; e-mail; cell access code; name of his Web page(s); whether or not he wants his acknowledgements also at the Internet site;  the ETINs for which we receive acknowledgements for him; and, if he has provided us with the information, the EFINs for which we receive acknowledgements for each of the ETINs he has provided.
Who else but AKSYS could do this!

Equipment and systems

AKSYS uses the best and fastest servers and workstations available, regardless of cost. Only days elapse from planning, procurement of equipment, installation of the new equipment and software, training, and placing a new system online.

By the time a system is designed, contracts awarded, equipment and systems installed and debugged, and people trained, the equipment, software, and the original concept could be   obsolete.

For years, AKSYS has provided the best third-party acknowledgement services to revenue departments and transmitters. AKSYS will continue to provide acknowledgement services as long as there are state revenue departments that want to use AKSYS.
